When you graduate, money is bound to be on your mind - whether it’s your Student Loan coming to an end or when you’ll start earning. This session provided information about taxes, loan repayments and what to do if you need to claim state benefits for a time.
11.30 - 12.30pm, Friday
With the recent closure of Post Study Work visa, this session highlighted the work options available if you have graduated from BA/BSc or a postgraduate degree. This session – ran by a Student Adviser with immigration training – gave information useful for those preparing to work in the UK after their studies.

As a UAL student or graduate, how do you find work to support your studies, creative practice or to help with your finances while you are looking for a career in your field? UAL can provide a great source of support on this. The audience learned about how to use the University’s resources to find employment up to 2 years after graduation.
3 - 4pm, Friday
How do Orla Kiely, Kelly Hoppen or David Beckham make money while they sleep? Two words: Intellectual Property! They have been able to sell or share their designs with other companies. In this one-hour workshop, the audience learned about the importance of copyright, design rights and trade marks for the development of a recognisable brand.
4.30 - 5.30pm, Friday
This interactive workshop helped the audience better understand the different ways to approach writing and presenting themselves through CVs and application forms. The audience learned some dos and don’ts of CV/Application writing and looked at some examples of creative approaches that will get them noticed for all the right reasons.
10 - 11am, Saturday
The audience found out about all the opportunities available to help students and recent UAL graduates fund their ideas and showcase their work to develop their creative practice. We ran through how and when you can apply, the different levels of awards (from £200 right up to the £10k mark), what we’re looking for and how to write a great application.

Want to improve your skills in business, marketing and other practical subject areas? Short Courses from University of the Arts London can offer graduates professional development skills to help hone your skills and increase your employability. Short Courses also provide the opportunity to network with like-minded people, work in the Colleges’ specialist facilities and consult with our industry professional tutors.
1 - 2pm, Saturday
As a student or recent graduate of UAL, you can sell your art and design through Made in Arts London, a new online enterprise run by the University. The audience learned more about the opportunities that Made in Arts London can provide and found out how it can benefit them as emerging artists, whether financially or in terms of networking, promotion and support.
3 - 4pm, Saturday
Those who wanted to get more confident with public speaking or just brush up their skills, joined SEE & Speaking Out for this hour-long event designed to help them get their voice heard effectively. The audience improved their confidence and skills to make an impression in the workplace or as a freelance or entrepreneur.
4.30 - 5.30pm, Saturday
Where do you go to get freelance work or generate new client leads? At this event we discussed methods to prepare for finding and generating freelance opportunities in all creative industry areas. Freelance experts were on hand to share methods, ideas and know-how on successful promotion for freelancing.
